Rear window rubber The rubber seal on my side rear windows which the front doors close onto are torn on both sides. Common? Easy/difficult to replace?? |

IMO, probably the only viable solution is to repair the existing gasket, since OEM new windows aren't likely available, and any from a boneyard would probably be cracked. |
FYI, I've searched far and wide on the internet for guides on repairing cracks in rubber gaskets, and found nothing. I have used a Permatex black silicone adhesive sealant (P/N 81158) to glue down the ends of the gasket (called a "cover" in the parts diagrams) at the base of the hatch glass, but haven't tried it to repair the window seals. |
Mine are torn and beyond repair. I have someone local that builds BMW Compact Cup cars and breaks these for parts so will see what he has when I see him. |
