1997 318ti for sale (m3 swap)

http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/b...rewamberleigh/ there are some pictures of the car here, If you want any specifics, let me know, The car is actually filthy in these pictures, but some guys on a form said that I didnt have all of the stuff that I did, so I walked out and took pics as it sat in my driveway. I just got done working 3 doubles in a row, and am tired, and would like to clean the car to send some pictures. The car was built by German Motorworks, and it was actually the owners car, until I bought it from him. He builds full on BMW race cars, and campaigns all across the us and canada at major races.

I will try and list everything about the car.

the chassis has about 150k miles on it, but nothing is still retained from that car except some of the body. The car is a 1997 318ti with no sunroof, this is rare. The engine is from a 1997 M3, and it had 71k miles when installed, and has been driven roughly 15-20k miles since then. The swap is awesome, and no expense was spared. It has an AA computer chip to bypass the security and do all their performance magic. The batter is relocated in the hatch, and you will never be able to see it. I do have an intake, but it isnt a high dollar custom unit, just a tube with a cone filter. I have always run Mobil 1 full synthetic, and factory bmw filters all changed at 3k mile intervals, I have also only run premium fuel (93). The suspension is KW clubsport coilovers with helper springs, The ride is very aggresive, yet I can daily drive the vehicle with my kids in the back no problem. It had new forged aluminum e30 m3 controll arms installed, as well as complete rear from a newer z3m. The car has a factory limited slip diff, and it still functions flawlessly. The brakes in the front are porsche boxster s calipers (brembo) with factory M3 rotors (cheaper to replace and still 13"), and the rear brakes are factory z3 coupe brakes, with cross drilled rotors. Through some computer swapping from other bmw's the car still retains fully functioning ABS, and trust me, it stops fast. The wheels are rare BMW LTW wheels, that are forged, and very light weight, I have 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear, and I have a set of 60% left bfgs that are the same except the rears are 255/40/17. Moving around the exterior it is not perfect, It has some door dings, and some really slight damage on the front from a dog that I hit, the damage is in those pictures. It has M3 front bumper, m3 sideskirts, and m-tech rear bumper, M3 door moldings, M3 door sills, m3 floor mats (showing wear). It has new m3 pedal set, clutch brake, gas, an d dead pedal (silver with black rubber strips) The interior is somewhat stock, with a kenwood head unit, and the factory speakers. I found a m guage cluster with the chrome rings and put it in. I do have a check engine light, and that is because I need a new rear charcoal canister sensor, I did just pass full emissions, and am good until december 2010. I just turned off the light, it took about a week to come back on. The seats have no tears in them, but the leather bolsters show a little wear. The rear seats are from a 1998 with head rests, but are a perfect match with the fronts. I am in the middle of making a carbon fiber center console for the car, but I was just playing, so I will put a stock one back in if you would like. The shift knob is ddm billet, and the e-brake is the same, the shifter is a rouge engineering (very pricey) and it is really nice. any questions please feel free to call me 828-305-5214, but dont call past 9, as I have 2 small children. Hope to hear from you, I know that I am forgetting alot of stuff.

Where in NC are you? I'm probably not looking to buy at the moment, more out of curiosity and to get the word out to friends.

andrewamberleigh 05-02-2009 03:27 PM

I am in spindale, it is an hour from asheville, an hour from charlotte, an hour from greenvill, and like 45 minutes from spartanburg. The price is definately negotiable, so if you are interested, shoot me offers, or tell your friends. My wife is due in november so It all has to happen before then, and the sooner the better

Would you have any interest in a stock ti sport plus cash?

andrewamberleigh 05-02-2009 06:01 PM

not really, I am looking for something different, but make me an actual offer, and I may consider. Let me know what you are thinking.

Can I get some more pictures and info on your battery relocation setup. I am trying to figure out a way to secure my battery properly and yours looks to be done very nicely.
Thanks

nice ride man!

andrewamberleigh 05-02-2009 08:19 PM

as for trades, I would like about 5 to 6k cash on top of trade. If that sounds good, then I will be very VERY interested.

andrewamberleigh 05-02-2009 10:19 PM

Depending, I will trade even for a 240sx s13 with appropriate modifications, or other interesting trades. preferably a performance biased car

andrewamberleigh 05-03-2009 02:55 PM

as for the battery it is simply cut into the floor in the rear, and had a sheetmetal box fabricated up and welded in. I will try and get pictures, but it has been raining for the past few days.

looks like I might be getting a e30 m3, going tomorrow to see it.

andrewamberleigh 05-05-2009 01:14 AM

well I didnt get the e30, it just needed some work, and the paint was a little stressed. Sooo, I got an 850 ci 6 speed. Gotta love the v12 for my 108 mile a day commute through the mountains of western NC

JoeyBello 05-06-2009 10:58 AM

?

So you traded it for the 8 series? I would have traded you my 2001 acura CL Type S.

cracker red 05-06-2009 01:52 PM

Enjoy the 850 6 speed :) Awesome car. Would be top of the list for me, but I can't swallow the 8mpg.
