check engine? how do i shut my check engine light off? |
Turn the engine off? Seriously though, what were you doing when the CEL came on? You're going to have to give us more information if you want someone to be able to help. Good luck. |
i put a K+n air filter on instead o fthe stock airbox |
It will be simpler to have this discussion in one thread, so use the other one in the "Air Filters / Intakes" section. |
There is a sensor in the airbox you removed, probably that's what's trippimg the CEL. Not sure of the remedy. |
If everything is fine and you wouldnt mind. You could just take out the bulb from the back of your cluster. Not that difficult to remove if you excercise patience. But if you dont fix the sensor issue....your gonna have huge headache when smog time comes around. good luck! |

WORKS It does work. I have done it several times. It is pretty cool. I did it on my 325is, and it spat out codes for the o2 sensor and something else ( can't remember) so I changed it and...PRESTO check engine light gone. The key is to get the timing right...it is easier on the e30's. |
got i tfigured out funny thing though my friend works at auto zone and the check engine light was still on when i got there when he came out side to check it out i turned teh car to teh on position and tehere was no check engine light anymore but the code still came out p1011 for the air temp senor lol |
