uk ti build thread thought id post up a progress of my e36 compact build bought the car 6 months ago as a bog standard 316i with the later 1.9 engine spent ages looking for a clean one and this had to be seen to be believed looked like a new car apart from a tiny dink in the drivers door! http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps97f71864.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps353b6cd9.jpg bought some very cheap contours (not oem these are 8x17 et35 all round silver centres with polished dishes) looked like this when i got them http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps5d39071d.jpg after a bit of hard work they looked like this http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps4e25b7ac.jpg whacked them on with some new tyres and debadged the 316i from the bootlid http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psda9153d7.jpg next i fitted some coilovers, satin black kidney grilles, smoked indicators and side repeaters and pressed plates http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psc1cef5d8.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd8199da6.jpg then came clear m-tech rear lights, carbon bmw badges, stainless exhaust and m-power plate surround http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psa3a70610.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps8c04c39d.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps861d657a.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps4cbbbd8a.jpg |
Wow, that's looking super clean! Keep it up, looking forward to seeing more :) |
new updates on the car been working away this weekend :) staggered e46 mv2's (18x8/18x8.5) 215/35r18 tyres 5mm front spacers 15mm rear spacers polybushed rear axle polybushed front arms front coilovers wound down more http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps2d5d3d82.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psae227172.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps85b8e208.jpg http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps3a2b22c0.jpg not a bad transformation for 7 months work :) http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps4d42cc08.jpg |
Looking good! Though i prefer the simplistic look of the contours. Whats the plan for power? ? Also what kind of coilovers did you use? |

the contours will possibly be making a return with a bit better stance and some slimmer tyres after the winter once iv refinished them the coilovers are just cheap jom ones although the ride is pretty decent to be fair. Powerwise just the exhaust at the moment it just has the lousy 1.9 105hp engine and after coming from a 200hp hot hatch its taking a bit of getting used to but it was bought for the fuel economy which is great. hopefully when my circumstances change over the next 12 months and i dont need it to commute as far i can look into sticking a 2.3 or 2.8 6 pot in it :D |
That would be nice, as long as you don't expect it to be fast it will do just fine, I got mine a exhaust and some other small things, thought it might make it faster, nope! then I was frustrated, but once I remembered that it was still a M44 and just to have fun with it as it is, it was a lot easier to enjoy. Keep up the work! |
