Newbie says Hello :)

Hi Guys,

Just thought i'd say hello. I'm picking up my 318 1998 Ti sport tomorrow and after doing a few searches found myself here. I've only test driven it around some local streets, done a full hpi check and such everything seems spot on. Full service, flied through previous MOTs, no advisorys so looking good.

Full leather interior, air con too, original paintwork, only one tiny dink on the whole car (aside from a few stonechips near front). 94k on the clock though, although I'm not being put off by that.

Anyways, before this my car was a 306 1.9 Turbo Diesel!! (92bhp std) But someone was kind enough to drive a minibus in to it and write it off, so thought i'd treat myself to something a bit more classy.

So what am I in for? Nice choice of motor? Any final things need to look out for tomorrow before finally parting with my cash?

Welcome

I think you will be happy with your choice of cars. I have pretty much the same year trim. 98ti with M sport package. Great car, fun to drive. Somewhat reasonable for repairs. I have about 130,000km on mine now and no major mechanical problems.

Have fun with it.

So picked it up today everything was fine except the battery seemed very weak on it. had to give it a tiny push to start bit it did okay. Normally battery colour is green on it but this wasn't. They said they would pay for a new battery if it was at fault, just assumed it was low charge from not being driven more than a mile or two in a month.

Got it home, left it a few hours, tried to start to no avail. Won't even turn in the slightest, and lights arevery dim. So will get a new battery tomorrow and see what happens. Otherwise all good!

Welcome to this forum. I got a 98ti Sport too.
Should be easy to pop in a new battery. Get one from Walmart.

hey n00b! :)

enjoy the car (once you get the new battery swapped in). they're fun car and good on longevity as long as you don't drive them into standing puddles with your CAI ;)
