The UNLOVED BMWs I love both my cars.. but they are not the most popular BMW's http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/01.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/02.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/03.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/04.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/05.JPG http://homepage.mac.com/bozola/unloved/06.JPG ________ marijuana trichomes |
I love evolution! |
I hope to join the 1 club in the future. You just make me want it more! |
I don't really understand the thread title.... The 1 series is definitly a unique car all its own. It's a new design! I can't afford a used one they are so new so I wouldn't really consider it unpopular...just uncommon. The Ti is very loveable and unique. If they were as popular as the Civic, I don't think they would be as fun to own. |
I've only seen 4 ones. And two of them were friends of mine doing Performance Center Delivery. I'd say sales are very low compared to the three or it may just be that there are more threes on the road near me. |
the 1 series is somewhat unpopular because it's priced so close to the 3 series, when given the choice, an average person is more likely to go for the 3 series |
Well a lot of people consider the ti rice. And not many like the 1, because it reminds them of the x6. |
I love both the 1 series(particularly the 135i), and the Ti, btw looking at ur Ti makes me wanna get some M Contours for mine, to replace my Style 27's which have a decent amt. of curb rash. Today, I saw a 135 vert. and 2 318Ti's, both were blue too, one of them was Avus, and the other was Montreal(i think), both of them might have been Avus tho. |

The 1 and ti are "too small" in this part of the world. In my area, I see cars like Chrysler 300s and Dodge Chargers left and right, and as mentioned above, the price for a 1 is so close to the 3 series that people would just go ahead and get an E90. I haven't seen anybody call my ti rice, it's just the way that people treat em and mod em. Also, it's just unloved because they don't like how the rear looks, and it was only offered with the M42/M44 motors. At the time that the ti was offered here in the US, I believe that SUVs and trucks were the popular things to get. I've slowly been seeing more and more 1's recently, but between the 1 and the 3, there's still way more 3's out there. |
Over here a lot of people make jokes about the 318TI, but I don't care! Their aren't a lot of TI's riding around, so I like it-:) |
I would love a 1-series compact! http://www.motorauthority.com/conten...n_630-0108.jpg isn't she lovely? |
I don't know, the 1 series Compact kinda reminds me of a station wagon... I would have to see it in person I guess. But then again, when I first bought my ti I wasn't thrilled about the body design and I had my mind set on a Honda Del Sol. But the Del Sol had been in three accidents in three years so I bought the ti instead and on the drive home I forgot what a Del Sol looked like... |

Haha I agree with you I've seen a lot (normal) Compacts riding around. But I don't like those I like mine 318TI:-). |
After going to an E46 325i from my ti I have to say no one has a right to give ti drivers crap. The 318ti is a very solid car and I already want another one. I never understood how people thought they were ugly either, have you seen the stuff they post on bf.c? |
I haven't driven my ti in a few weeks because I needed to swap tires and pads. I still love the car. I have a quiet road through an industrial park. They put two circles and a few s turns. I love it. :) |

imo the e21 is the most under rated, unloved of all bmw's, next to the ti hatch. |

I actually like the e46ti now. At first I hated it. But it's a extreamly unique design that no other 3 series have. |
it is a shame we never got the E46ti here in the states.. but I would love a 135 hatch in it's place |
I'm holding out for the 1-series 3 door compact with the turbo diesel engine. Quote:

That was my 1st BMW. And the 1 Compact looks like an M Coupe (a car I do not own but love dearly). |
Is that a Lemans blue or interlagos. I can never tell the difference. |
Montego. |
i've been debating between a r53 pepper white cooper s or an alpine white 135i. |
I've seen some horrible 1-series... but recently post facelift, it's all about the 3-door and the coupé. I saw a nice one-year old graphite metallic 3-door M-sport edition with red half-leather interior and I swear it was SEXY. The 1 series, like the compact, will never be the mass volume seller simply because most people that spend compact/1er money on a car generally tend to go larger or for a roadster like an MX5. And most of the ones that do buy base or standard model ones. But that isn't really unpopularity, it's just that the product is a bit niche, and that's what means that 10-12 years on, a lot of us dudes who can't afford to drop more than a grand or two on a car can end up with something really stylish and unusual, but with BMW reliability and pedigree! I'm pretty sure my ti turns more heads than a sedan, and sure, e36 coupés are pretty but there's more of them. The ti is a car that has matured with age and I feel that in 10 years time a late-model of the current 1er will be just as well-loved. |

gotta say I've always love the look of the ti and hatchbacks in general. Was disappointed to learn only coupe 1 series would make it to USA. I like driving something comparatively rare. |
I drove a 135i coupe recently, turbo six, 7 speed auto (!). It was quite a drive. I really liked the size of it, the interior allowed me one of the most comfortable driving positions ive experienced - and I'm 6' 5". The size is really all you need. Anything bigger would have been just more luxurious, but not better, if you know what I mean. And it was fast, like really fast. Everything happened in fast forward. Its abilities are quite high. High enough that your brain has to put extra concentration juice into piloting it. But pay attention and the road is yours. You can eat up road and turns with lots of confidence. The car feels good, stable and balanced. And really quick. It bangs through gears and gets up to illegal speed in no time. I tried manual shifting the 7-speed myself and it was a waste. The car is so fast and the shifts happen so quick that it requires a lot of attention. I found myself literally watching only the tach so I could shift right at redline, and I um wasnt watching the road. So I put it back in auto mode and let the puter do its thing. It is quite good, it holds gears when you want to and rev matches when braking hard. All this allows more attention on getting your braking and turn in more precise. Braking it does really well too. Cramming the pedal just makes the car stop. You can feel and hear the abs and computer working each tire to its max. It feels really stable while doing it, not much dive either. Braking works well when diving into turns also and doesnt upset the car. And it does this, at least at the limits I was driving, without traction control. It just has good balance and setup i guess. A few things that didnt fit so well. The really smart computer was able to sense when I was about to brake hard just before bombing into a turn and pre-pressurized the hydraulic brake system and closed the gap between the pads and rotors. This made a newly-hard and ready-for-action brake pedal. Which is awesome, but not the brake pedal my senses had become accustomed to during the rest of the drive. I repeated this on several turns and it did it each time. Who know, maybe if I owned the car I'd get used to it. Another off-putting thing is that twice while in a hard turn the car bottomed out on the compression side over a mid-turn bump. This is probably due to the cars weight (which it masks well) and ride/handling spring/shock compromise. It only happened twice and only when driving hard, but it was still a bit unsettling for a car that does everything else so very well. And it really does the rest well. As I guess it should for how much the thing cost. I think it would be worth it for a lease or a 2-4 year ownership experience. But after that I think you'd better have a CPO or aftermarket service contract put on it. No way would I ever even begin to think about repairing this car myself in the garage. All in all, awesome car. If you have an opportunity to test drive one, do it. I liked the car so much from the inside and the driver experience that I didnt care as much what it looked like, a bar of Dove soap. |
Just out of intrest are you guys gonna get this in the U.S. this is a 1 series that will be loved  we have them in the U.K. but they are rare its the 1M http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/p...8032013331.jpg http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/p...-1024x7681.jpg http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...03/BMW1M08.jpg |

I must admit I've never seen a Fern Green ti sport over here, but TBH green is classed as a unlucky colour for cars in the U.K. for some reason :smile: but we do have our rare colours too like this one Dakar Yellow ti sports they only seem make them in this colour at the end of the build run of E36's b4 it changed to E46 model compacts http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...2/74823907.jpg http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...2/4dbe6a5b.jpg also some of the year 1999 ti sports had a limited edition colours like this one a red/gold metalic colour which I dont know the name off http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...2/0bcc9bd4.jpg and this one which is my own 318ti sport which is a blue/green metalic (what looks more blue TBH) called aegaeischblau metalic http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/...2/1882d73a.jpg |
sounds about right, towards the end of the E36 run they used colors that were normally found on M3's. As for my FarnGruen ti I love the color and have never seen another and only heard of one other. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7123/7...fd31b5aa_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7211/7...8b8748a9_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7121/6...fb757518_c.jpg |
