Cali top headliner removal

Has anyone removed the headliner and left the top in place? I think that the cable on the right side is broken.

I removed the headliner and didn't think it was possible to not keep the top in place. Mine was separate. I tell you what though, this top is a pain with these leaks.

I sealed mine up 6 years ago but now it has a small leak. I'll fiddle around with the headliner soon.

I bought some clear sealant. I'll look around to see if I still have it. I bought it at advance auto.
