Driveshaft differences between 318 and 318ti

Hello everyone, this is my first post here!
I have an automatic 1995 m42 powered 318ti that I am investigating manual swapping. I've done some searching but I can't seem to find the answer.

Is the manual driveshaft specific to the ti, or could another more common one work, say 318? I've heard mixed opinions, someone said they were almost certain it would work but I remain skeptical.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated, in addition to any info that may help with the swap aswell. Thanks!

I'm looking for the same info. I have a Getrag 5 Speed and driveshaft from a 95 coupe that's going into the ti. We upgraded the coupe to a ZF for endurance racing. I've looked all over the innertubes, and no joy on the info.
Someone has to know!!!

I think it'll fit fine. Haven't done it, but we use a 328i driveshaft on our swaps (with a zf), so makes sense that a 318i or 325i driveshaft will fit with Getrag. They can compact and lengthen some.

I found this. Guy said he had the two next to each other and couldn't tell the difference.

Go for it. Manual swap is worth it. Remember to jumper the auto selector park bit. The rest is straight forward.
