New (finally) 318ti owner.
 

Hi,

I just picked up a 1997 318ti.

I used to absolutely hate these cars, I worked at an indie BMW shop in 2003 and the owner's girlfriend at the time had a red one with a California(?) top, and every time my M3-loving self saw it, I would cringe.

Now, I absolutely love the idea of the car, although I wish BMW had created an "M3 Compact". Which is my mission, I've seen the M/S/5x swaps and I'll be doing that to mine after I save a little money with the M44's gas mileage!

I bought this car (maybe overpaid) with some suspension issues, but overall body/mechanically in good shape. I am almost done swapping an S50/2 into my 1991 318is, but it is taking longer than expected (first time doing this conversion), and I couldn't stand just sitting in it and shifting while making engine noises.

Anyway, I'll be lurking and soaking up all of the information I can!
