Round tail light 2002tii's are getting really pricey |
1 Attachment(s) Speaking of tii's how bout a 2002 tii touring. Came through my shop |
This is going to be an amazing motor. And gorgeous 2002. |
2 Attachment(s) Solved my radiator hose problem, figured that everything else is some sort of fancy pants metal, so why not stainless. |

Talk about the Unicorn of BMW... |
I guess baur may have done some, we have 2 baurs in the shop for sale. One e30 323i and a e36 318i, but both 2002 tii tourings we have are sun roor cars, and not baur conversions |
1 Attachment(s) And so it begins. Going to body shop to have new sway bar perches put on and then next weekend the swap begins. Oh yeah, and bribing co-workers with beer to help get the engine safely up the back basement stairs. Its 6 steps but want a few spotters anyway |
Did you ever hit the track? |
I took it one night last year, and ran a cobra R and beat him by about a car length. But they were doing a arm drop night and weren't giving out time slips. The guy with the cobra said he runs 12.5s consistently but i dont know what i actually ran. That was when i had the 10psi dasc and 2 kits of nos. I have also run several e90 m3s with that setup and they couldn't hang. |
4 Attachment(s) Finished the oil lines and mounted the pump. I used an old trans mount for it. Seems pretty stable. Also made a quick crate for safe transport to the garage. |
3 Attachment(s) Original engine is out of the car, and the new one safely made it to the garage. Too bad you can't see the exhaust headers in the car, these were just starting to look cool. |
2 Attachment(s) Washed out the engine bay, and heater box area and drains. Even scrubbed out the ecu box. Still deciding how i want to paint the bay, but still have a lot of brackets to cut off and smooth down so i have some time. |
1 Attachment(s) Decided to go with rhino lining. Also coated the inside of the frame raills. |
2 Attachment(s) Un-created the engine and getting ready to drop it in. Had the wrong pilot bearing or i would of had it in last night. So try again tonight. |
3 Attachment(s) I guess my test bay worked, because it went right in first try. |
2 Attachment(s) Its coming together. Felt kinda bad cutting brand new air ducts that had to come from Germany, but oh well. Also got the new hood cable installed, not looking forward to doing another one of those. |
Well, it's running https://youtu.be/p61thkWNFy8 |
NICE!!!!!!! Honestly if it was any other forum that had more active users this would thread would be a lot more cluttered up. Your not getting the attention I feel like this would deserve! It looks great. |
Hey, was expecting this in the Forced Induction section, how did I miss it until now? Nice build. Better search for a ZF gearbox and some beefier axles! What ecu will you run? Also curious about that oil pump. Is it quiet? Have you bench tested it to see flow and scavenging abilities? IIRC in the M5 it was just used to drain the heads in heavy turning (>0.8G). |
Where is the fun in changing them before I get to break them. As for ecu ill run a modified dasc tune to "pass" emissions and a haltek standalone for when i try to find the limits of this contraption. As for the oil pump i figured I'd give it a try and yes i bench ran it. it has very good flow and actually very quiet. The question will be the long term run of it. Its not scavenging off the turbo, it draws from the pan to the cooler and back to the pan. |
One more video. https://youtu.be/N21qQ6psIiA |
1 Attachment(s) Re-floorpaned the hatch and this is my new setup. |
2 Attachment(s) Tank and bottles mounted and front end going on. Might get it on the road this weekend! That is if i finish all the wiring. |
This is such a cool build. Sorry of you stated already but what rad hoses are you using? |
3 Attachment(s) I did about 18 hours of wiring this weekend and I'm still not quite done. But got a gauge pod made for center console and an aux fuse box in the glovebox to run all the additional items. Took it for a short spin tonight and at 1200 rpms it makes the 6 psi from the supercharger and by 1700rpms its making 15psi witch means the waste gate was fully open before 2000 rpms. Now im pretty confident it will make any boost i want it to.and as for the radiator hoses, they are stainless steel formable hoses from a dress up kit i had gotten for my 68 camaro that i hadn't gotten around to using. |
Drove it to work today and boy does it turn some heads. Definitely going to need the 305 tires witch are ordered bit wont be able to fit them until the wide body goes on. |
1 Attachment(s) New tires came in and new wheels are sent off for powdercoat. |
2 Attachment(s) Wheels are done. 245s in front and 305s in the rear. Hopefully i can get some wheelie action! |
4 Attachment(s) Played around with the new wheels and can't wait till i start the wide body kit. At least i measured correctly, both front and rear clear the suspension without any spacers. Cant say the same for the fenders. Fender roller maybe? Lol |
I put the 10psi pulley on last night and started play with the boost controler. Got it up to 17.5 psi and blew out the injector adapter o rings on the dasc manifold. But its a rocket and I've just started to crack into its potential. But gotta work out the little kinks along the way. If i get it back together i may shoot some videos of pulls this weekend. |
Ebay turbo kit wastegate didnt last. Blew out the shaft seal and now its blowing boost into the exhaust and giving me a false lean reading. So i ordered a new wastegate and we'll see whats next in line to break. |
1 Attachment(s) I got the new waste gate on. Not much room to spare, but im just glad that it fit without modifying the downpipe and dump tube. I also had the o rings blow out for the oil filter housing mount blow out so i had to do those this weekend too. |
1 Attachment(s) There wasn't a whole lot of attention to this thread so i slowed down on the posts. But i started tuning on it and found that with the 10lb pully on the supercharger ithe 44mm wastegate wasn't big enough to control the turbo pressure. I was getting boost creep in the higher gears. So i went back to the 6lb pully and it then was able to control the boost. I haven't heard back from barrie at midnight so i went ahead and tried out ecu masters det3. Was working well and started to play with the launch control function, and blew out the rear end and broke the driveshaft. Now I'm considering options for diff and driveshaft, even non bmw stuff possibly. At 4500 rpms on the launch control it makes 12psi and i had the final boost set at 17psi when this happened. |
We love this thread. It's a bit to advanced for me so i'd rather sit back and admire. As for diff there are few options to add a 2nd mount. https://store.garagistic.com/e30-secondary-diff-mount I would imagine a 188MM could withstand this build. Many turbo e30 guys running 500+ on stock medium case. |
It's the size of the ring and pinion gears thats hurting it. In the photo above thats a full tooth off of the pinion gear. Im going to tear into it tomarrow and ill post some pics. Lately I have been taking Nikki (my silver ti, Markos old one) to the open night at the track. The first two nights i ran the drag strip and it was pretty consistent at 14.6 @ 97mph. Its mostly the way marko had it with the metric mechanic fi motor and 15psi pulley, i did change the exaust to a long tube headder into a 2.5 collector and it has an electronic cut out valve right after the collector. I also made it a free vent pcv system with a catch can and made a more efficient cold air intake on it. But the motor and tune is how he had it. Last time out i went into the drift pit and had so much fun with it I'm going again next weekend. It's a tricky one to get to slide, it has a very fine point where the back whips around so violently. Witch is making me want to start tweeking the suspension on it. Too many projects at once, and I'm still working when i can on my 68 camaro to get it back on the road. |
1 Attachment(s) So there is the pinion gear missing teeth. Welded up my original open diff to throw in it to get me by till i figure out what I am going to put in it |
The welded diff is holding up for now. I found an m roadster diff for a reasonable price and its on the way, but I've been trying to get some more tuning done. Finished the maf to map conversion and removed the maf completely. Also put in the 72lb injectors, but now i think i need a tandem fuel pump setup especially for when i start to bring in the nitrous. And with the bigger injectors and some tuning it makes 15psi on the 2 step and shoots 4ft flames out of all 4 tips. Can't wait for the next person to tailgate me :) |

Definitely keep up the work! Very unique and I look forward to the build getting completed with video, and with more pictures! Great work! I would love to see it in person sometime! |
Not this engine but I uploaded a video of my sliver car running at the track. https://youtu.be/oNxF1hW6xJ0 |
my ex, best girl! So glad to see she lives & is not taken apart! Good stuff! Quote:
