The safety wire makes it so even if the bolts try to rattle loose or back out the wire keep them tied together and if you wrap it right the wire is pulling both the bolts clockwise (tighter)

Engine is in the test bay for hopefully the last time. Working on brackets and locations for everything. Also cut up the factory front engine hook and welded it to the dasc support bracket to make a proper front hook.

Seems like a very expensive trial build though, but of course "expensive" is relative, my expensive might be your cheap haha
I've never heard of the M12, sounds incredible though I'll have to look into it more!
I encourage more use of the M44 it's overlooked so much. So threads like these are always up lifting to see and hopefully it will encourage more use of the M4x motors and increase the aftermarket as well! So it's a win/win [emoji16]

Essentially the race version of the BMW 2002tii M10 engine... :P

OMG I so want a 2002 again.... :( Crying here, I have had two and they have gotten lost along the way... both were 1973 with the round taillights.

(And the rust, uggh.)

Round tail light 2002tii's are getting really pricey

Solved my radiator hose problem, figured that everything else is some sort of fancy pants metal, so why not stainless.

Those are super rare... weren't they all Bauer conversions? (like the 2002 convertibles)

Talk about the Unicorn of BMW...

I guess baur may have done some, we have 2 baurs in the shop for sale. One e30 323i and a e36 318i, but both 2002 tii tourings we have are sun roor cars, and not baur conversions

And so it begins. Going to body shop to have new sway bar perches put on and then next weekend the swap begins. Oh yeah, and bribing co-workers with beer to help get the engine safely up the back basement stairs. Its 6 steps but want a few spotters anyway

Did you ever hit the track?

andakn 03-07-2017 01:07 AM

I took it one night last year, and ran a cobra R and beat him by about a car length. But they were doing a arm drop night and weren't giving out time slips. The guy with the cobra said he runs 12.5s consistently but i dont know what i actually ran. That was when i had the 10psi dasc and 2 kits of nos. I have also run several e90 m3s with that setup and they couldn't hang.

Finished the oil lines and mounted the pump. I used an old trans mount for it. Seems pretty stable. Also made a quick crate for safe transport to the garage.
