Stripping the electrical

My home town has a 3/8 mile dirt oval with a 4 cylinder kids class. My son currently drives a chevette. We wanted a faster car and to stay RWD. We picked up a high milage 1997 318ti. We need to strip it of all its interior, dash and plastics. We have been carefully disconnecting the dash wiring and starting the car regularly. We damaged the wire pick up for the chipped key at the ignition. We saw on youtube a way to bypass this. it will now crank over but not fire. No spark, i have not checked injectors. Can anyone help me with what is the bare essentials of wiring needs for the computer. I would like to go kick some front wheel drive Honda ass. Thanks in advance.

Ok..we broke the thin wire coil/loop that is on the end of the ignition tumbler that picks up the chipped key. it unplugs from the harness so im thinking i should be able to buy one. Im looking for a part number.
