Exhaust?

After getting the DASC installed, I have been driving the car a lot more, Noticed a bit of a rattle on my exhaust and upon inspection, clearly it is at the end of its life. Anyone out there have a recent OEM or other aftermarket? Rather not spend $800-900 for a new one for a car that just isn't worth that much relative to the car being worth 4k. And not looking to wake the neighbors or having a 4" pipe sticking out the back. I searched through the "sticky" for exhausts, and most of the links seem old and lost. Most of the more recent posts/links reflects m/s/50/52 swaps.

Last time I checked, Autozone carried an oem replacement cat back for around $250.

Never very confident in non OEM, OEM parts.

Understood. Price went up anyway, it's now 315 for the Walker. They also carry a Bosal for 323.

Stromung is available and quality aftermarket. Personally best sounding is Supersprint or Eisenmann. Both hard to find and NLA I think. My local exhaust shop and made a 3" header back system for roughly $150. I purchased the mufflers I wanted and made it work. Try a custom setup before dropping big money on catback.

Not afraid of going custom, but most of those "aftermarket mufflers" in my experience sound like Japanese cars. At least in a sense of "performance type.

I keep coming back to Supersprint, but its so hard to imagine spending 8-900 on an old cheap car.

Super sprint is truly the best imo. Mine lasted roughly 10 years before rotting out. As for aftermarket mufflers sounding Japanese it's the nature of a 4. You need to create an actual cat back not just replace the rear muffler. The diameter of exhaust will play a role in tone

The aftermarket OEM replacements are all crush bent. They are a downgrade from stock.

Magnaflow has a replacement high flow cat (the likely source of your rattle) and a performance cat back. You can buy both sections for less than the cost of the Supersprint cat back and the fit is perfect. It is however a little loud. I have a customer that had the full Magnaflow exhaust but replaced the cat back with a Strommung unit to quiet it down a bit.

If I can help just give me a call. 772.215.4069

The cat itself looks very good (clearly replaced previously) But the muffler itself is rotting at the seams. And I'd rather go stock than something absurdly loud, like Magnaflow.

I wouldn't use 'absurd' to describe it but I understand what you're saying. The Magnaflow cat back with the stock cat would probably sound pretty nice.

But again, this is all subjective.

I'm in this same camp. I've lusted over the Supersprint exhaust since I owned my E30 17 years ago. I settled on the Scorpion cat back in 2004, and loved the sound. However, that was the M20B25. M44B19 sound is different, and avoiding the fart-can sound I frequently hear in SoCal is premium.

However, I agree, Supersprint, Eisenmann sound good... But $$$. I'm also exploring Ulter exhausts, which I know little about (picture attached). https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...aa598b1a9f.jpg

I just checked realOEM.com and the OEM stock cat back is about $500, although all the usual spots seem to indicate that or more (plus shipping I assume). Maybe Supersprint isn't that far out of the question. Looks like the Stromung is about $500, but on one FS post here recently, it looks like the pipe is already rusty (ergo not stainless).

Just had a Magnaflow #23996 cat and #16528 cat-back installed. Looks and sounds great - nice mellow sound - not tinny.
