You know you a drive a 318ti when...

You know you a drive a 318ti when...
  • You park 1 feet away from the curb, and your still fully inside the parking spot.
  • You can remove the door panel and oil the plasitic guider on the regulator in less than 60 seconds.
  • You show off to your friends that you can lock the door, roll up the windows, AND close the sunroof with your key.
  • your friend spends an hour looking around your car, then finally asking,"How do you roll down the windows?"
  • you think going 35mph on a turn is normal.
  • you get all worked up when you see another fellow 318ti.
  • You find reasons to modify something.
  • You constantly search on Craigslist for a 318ti, even though you have no intentions of buying one.

Feel free to add to the list:giggle:

cooljess76 11-13-2008 12:36 AM

When you have to ride your bicycle everywhere.

elchicano 11-13-2008 01:09 AM

-When people have a surprised look on their face when you open the hatch
-When you order 2 door corner lights instead of 4 door

tiFreak 11-13-2008 02:14 AM

- when you get flamed a lot on BF.C

I doubt that your car being a 318ti makes getting flamed at bf.c any more likely. There are MANY things that cause people to get flamed there.

actually yes, I've seen people get flamed solely on the fact that they drive a ti, I'm guessing just because it's a 4-cyl. hatchback, and, most importantly, NOT an M3

Tyler 11-13-2008 02:47 AM

LOL... Thats good...

Watchmyradical 11-13-2008 03:56 AM

people on BF.C are just pissed because a 4cyl can keep up with there M3 at the track.

I've been hassled over there for owning a Ti before, but it's usually from guys that drive 325's and 328's. I rarely even post over there anymore because of it. It does seem like more and more people are starting to give in to the Ti though. Perhaps they're finally realizing that e36 coupes and sedans come a dime a dozen, yes even the M3's:cool:

Maverix 11-13-2008 04:23 AM

Really? Yall get hassled over there? I get the opposite reaction. I haven't posted my car or anything. But they're pretty kind towards me. But then again, I don't post as often as I do here.

You find yourself leaving notes on car windshields in parking lots with "318ti.org" on them.

BTW, no one here ever fessed up to owning the Alpine ti in the Vallejo, CA Costco parking lot. It even had the .org stickers... Whose car is it?

Maverix 11-13-2008 05:43 AM

I spotted a parked ti the other day on my way to work. Figured it was someone that worked at the bank because I've seen it there 3 times now. I've seen the person walk to the car. And honestly, she doesn't look very enthused, considering the red ti looks like the only wash it ever receives is from rain. I'll leave a note next time and hope she gets a change of heart. Very unlikely though =\

There is a curve near my mothers house where they say the maximum safe speed is 25 mph; my ti handles it with no problems whatsoever at 45 - 50 mph.

post one picture of your scoop and decals and that will all change in an instant

Maverix 11-13-2008 04:43 PM

When you lose sleep waiting for your latest mod to come in the mail.
When you think that 99% of the time, you have the right of way in every situation because you know that others dont want to get sued by a BMW owner.
When you accidently write your VIN number instead of your social security. (I was on something -_-)
When orange lights mean,"IF you step on it, you WILL make it." (relatively true in Austin, 'cause of our heavy traffic)
When you start telling civic owners,"Did you know Ricer, pronounces 'ricer' backwards?"

2002ti or 318ti????

BF.C are all over 2002ti's thinking they are nice looking cars and all yet if i compare these 2 cars the 318ti is a much much better looking car.

b.u.ti-ful 11-13-2008 08:46 PM

  • You are good at driving with one hand and holding up the headliner with the other.
  • You show up at a craigslist seller's house to pick up a clothes dryer and the seller thinks you forgot your pickup.
  • You find yourself praying that it is true that the airbag will still go off even though the light is on.
  • You are always confident that your spark plugs are well oiled.

elchicano 11-13-2008 09:17 PM

  • When you don't know how to turn off you rear wiper.
  • When you fork over a big sum of money for parts specific to the car.
  • When people can't seem to find out how to fold the seat forward in order to get to the back.
  • Opening/closing the rear windows is a drag.
  • When drivers are tail gating your a$$ on highway.

I don't have a problem with them. I always speed a little more than normal because I hate having other cars obstruct my view. And I wanna make orange lights. People always get out of my way when they see my mean hood scoop, and the decals. Waker ftw!!

elchicano 11-13-2008 10:56 PM

I like to cruise, no need to speed. Anyway i don't want to get any more speeding tickets. But yeah i would like to put something on the hatch that can light up "Get the Fuk off my A$$" but i think it may come out looking cheap. Or prolly just GTFO but i don't think everyone would know what it means.

Buy 5 flame kits, and stack them. That's gonna give you at least like 25 feet of flamage. Scorch the crap out of em.

lol jk

DaedHead8 11-14-2008 12:41 AM

I've definitely been flamed on bf.c for driving a TI. I remember back in '04 on my first account there, some prick with an s2000 was saying some stupid **** about how all TI drivers think they drive race cars.

Most of the time though it's idiots with 4 door e36s (even 318i drivers, sadly) who are more than likely jealous that their engine would be a much better fit in my car.

Ive been on a camping trip where I drove alone cause ALL of the gear was in the trunk, and all of the wood for the week-long winter camping session was filling my back and front seat.

When I got to our site, our friendly camp neighbors asked me if it was tough getting a lowered car out to the sticks.

I have never been more happy to tell him that it wasn't lowered.
But looked great cause of the many hundreds of pounds of wood was in it.

I still have no idea how to turn off the back wiper.

Haha! I believe it's the button next to the seat ejector.

might take a while, doesn't look like the nightmare page is actively updated anymore :frown: Jordan, to turn the wiper off, just push the stalk quickly once, the wiper will come on one more time, and then it will stop

1996 328ti 11-14-2008 03:26 AM

Come on, this is a good thread. Let's not bring bf.c into it. :)

You know you drive a 318ti when
your headliner is held in with staples
after 10 years, you still can't figure how to turn off the rear windshield wiper
you learn there is a light behind the headlight switch

There is? Yikes! Well at least it didn't take me another 8.5 years to learn that!

Maverix 11-14-2008 05:18 AM

Wow, are you serious? I didn't know that either!

I'm now to the point that I wouldn't be surprised if there was a button hidden somewhere that lets the car drive by it's self and automatically knows where you want to go.

What? What light behind the headlight switch?

DaedHead8 11-14-2008 06:01 AM

I got one.

You know you're a TI owner when you don't go through drive thrus at the bank and mcdonalds because you're too afraid your window won't roll back up.

Also, my headlight switch has no light behind it.

cooljess76 11-14-2008 06:55 AM

sure it does, unscrew the knob and pry the little plate off. Foglight switch has one too, it's almost the same bulb that lights the ring around your cigarette lighter and another that's used to light your HVAC panel.

I almost lost lol'd in gthe middle of biology.

You know you're a Ti owner when people say "what is it?"

When you see a fellow Ti owner and then post on the forums all the info you had about the car to see who owns it.

bmwpelican 11-14-2008 04:20 PM

yeah does anyone know how to stop the rear windshield wiper? its been pissing me off lately LOl. just triggered it bc off what that guy said.
