Flex disk
 

I have been told I need to replace my flex disk. My sweet baby has over 160k on her so I am assuming this is just normal wear and tear.

Two questions- how much work would this be to do myself? and if that is a bad plan how much should I expect to pay a mechanic to do it?

If that looks doable, go for it.

I did it without removing the exhaust, but I did need to loosen the driveshaft center bearing. Loosening the bearing meant "ripping out" an aluminum heat shield and then reinstalling it when the project was done.

Do you plan on keeping your car for along time? If so, I'd recommend replacing the driveshaft center bearing while you're at it. I replaced my guibo this spring and now I think the center bearing needs replacing.
