Loud Screeching

I got a really loud screeching noise every time I turn on the AC. And sometimes the belt was not moving when I looked to see where the sound was coming from. I just replaced the belt 2 months ago. Any ideas on what it could be? Tensioner? Thanks.

Just did some more messing around. The AC stops blowing out cold air when the screeching is present. I've also noticed it goes away temporarily when I give it a little gas, and the air returns to chilling.

I replaced my AC tensioner not too long ago because it was making funny noises when I turned the AC on. I pulled the belt off and found that the tensioner bearing had a lot of play. I put a new one on and it has been good since.

I just replaced it, but I still had the same problem. So time to return that. When the car is running, it's fine. But when I turn the AC on, the belt seize and makes painfully loud screech.

So that leads me to believe it's probably the compressor.

I say part it out, asap.

ever fix it?

Im having a similar problem. Was it the compressor?

Sprayed a lil WD-40 on the compressor, and after testing it each day for a week, the problem fixed it self. Just be sure you have the belt removed and not to get it on the pully.
