but can be used for the bmw one as well

There was a comment that says the holes in the bumper on E36 models are already there. Only the moulding needs to be drilled. Has anyone confirmed that the rear bumper has the holes? I can check my stock rear bumper, it's sitting in my garage.

While on the subject of installing this kit, does anyone know what model cars we can pillage to install a kit in our cars? Since the kit only taps power from the brake lights, it seems any model BMW would work for us.

I know I can buy the kit new from the dealer for our cars. What I want to know is what cars can I remove a kit from in a junkyard?

I did a parts look up on the PDC control unit. Interesting that the two model BMW's that came with this version of PDC were the E36 Compact and the E31, which is the 840/850 series. The the cheapest and most expensive BMW's have the same system, but nothing in between:confused:

This is the biggest waste of money that i have ever seen...

L84THSKY 10-31-2006 10:41 PM

It is if you pay dealer prices. I'd be interested if I can get a used system cheap.

Why??

Just out of curiousity, why would you need park distance control? A ti is not a large car by any means. If you are remotely aware of the shape and size of your car pdc is just anoying and not needed at all. Unless you are doing the mod just for the sake of it. I have driven a few cars with pdc and find them really anoying. I assumed they were installed for soccer mom's in minivans and SUV's so they could attempt to park them at the mall while talking on their cell phone.

well its allways handy

im off to the scrap yard today to have a look see if any have it if they do i should have it fitted by tonight

L84THSKY 11-02-2006 06:28 PM

Since it hooks directly to your reverse lights, does that mean you have no way of disabling it? I would like to route a power wire to a switch beside the ASC switch to allow me to use it only when I want to.
