I want it but unfortunately I am presently renovating my master bathroom and two bedrooms. Down to studs and new plywood floors.

If you have it in 2 months I'll take it.

any m42 or m 44 even the older e 30 body style i think the z 3 as a different throttle arm at a 45% angle or it was the m44 do to the traction control control vale ill have to look in to that to be sure.

BlackBMWs 05-05-2013 06:53 AM

Ya, Z3 has a 135 degree angle throttle body elbow as opposed to the 180 degree for the E36/5. I ask as I think the M42 pulleys are different than a M44's.

Artem can probably comment here.

old e30 body m 42 motor maybe an 1985 maybehttp://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps23424e81.jpg

I'm sure somebody here that has a DASC on an M44 can verify, but it looks like the 45* elbow might be required for ICV clearance between the blower, rather than a difference between the E36/7 and E36/5.

Hi Jerry! Is that a pic of a E36/7 engine bay? When I spoke with Jim at Downing, the intake for the blower is different between the E36/5 (180 degree bend) and the E36/7 (135 degree bend). Brake booster/resivoir clearance differences. I know as I was evaluating picking up a DASD from a Z3 M44 for my 1997 318ti.

Jim at Downing says they can special order machine one if needed. ($300) I chose to wait and obtained one from a 97 318ti.

FYI, The intake manifold is a straight bolt on for either a M42/M44. I believe Artem picked on up from a M42 and had to find different pulleys for his M44.

FWIW, this kit looks in great shape with most of the parts needed for a pre 97. (M44 vs. M42 might be the difference) I believe there is an adapter plate needed if installed on a 97+ M44 if the EMS is not flashed, i.e. Nick's software.

Yes, the picture is from an E36/7, but if you look at where the ICV mounts on the throttle body, it doesn't look like there would be adequate clearance between the ICV and blower if it were a 180* bend. I know that DASC's will all mount to either M42 or M44 intakes/heads, but I was thinking that the M44 throttle body (ICV mount on the TB, rather than under the intake manifold) might have been the reason for the 135* vs. 180* elbow.

Again, I don't know this is as fact, which is why I was hoping someone with an M44 DASC could chime in.

mines a m44 setup but (uk car)

http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/t...114_145730.jpg

and I have a mate that has the m42 that fitted the same kit as mine

link to his thread as he's not on here http://www.bmwforums.info/projects/2...he-bbk-11.html

and he shows in his thread how he got around the different idler pulley setup by replacing the oil filter housing
