Rusting issue? Last weekend when I was trying to tighten my e brake, I felt up underneath the rear wheel wells. They were caked with dirt and other grime. Today I took it to the car wash and made sure I got all the dirt and other particles out of there. My concern is that my wheel wells will turn out like my trucks, completely rusted out! My two questions are: Has anyone had the same problem in the rear wheel wells? and Is the plastic piece that lines the well supposed to touch the lip? The plastic pieces in the front are completely touching all the way around. I'm now extremely worried about all sorts of parts rusting out! |

cali-ti encountered rust in the wheel wells and treated it with POR15. there should be some pictures in his gallery. |
both sides of mine are rusted to sh*t. going to wirewheel them soon and POR15 the underside and lip and i need to repaint about 5x2 in of rear quarter arch. not too bothered about immaculate result and the cars only worth about £2500-3000 now.... |
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...c/L1000455.jpg I was concerned to the amount of surface corrosion on certain parts of my car when I was underneath checking the gearbox filler point. Some seem more affected than others, and some nuts etc not at all. Is this surface stuff anything to be worried about? I feel like getting in there with a wire brush and then spraying the areas with Waxoyl! |
I would always be concerned about rust. Rust is like cancer, it will spread, it will destroy whatever it touches. The nice thing about not having to drive on roads that are iced in the winter. I have some minor rusting on on some spots in the interior that hold water, but nothing major under the car or on the body... |
waxoyl is crap tbh, the best thing i have found recently and i mean it is AMAZING BRILLIANT ASTOUNDING - bilthamber Deox products. I used the gel and clingfilm wrapped for 48 hours on HEAVY arch rust, did it again after the first run and rust wass gone along with the pitting. Stuck it in a garage after for a quick lick of paint on the arches (200 for an OK job.... some imperfections but not MAJOR) http://www.bilthamber.com/gfx/p-deoxgel-pack.jpg |
