Aux input on my Alpine CD Change?

I have an Alpine MP3/CD changer that was pre-installed in my ti when I purchased it. Hanging from below the changer is a set of RCA aux input jacks...

Have you seen that before, any idea how you use them?

I couldn't imagine being able to have an Aux input at the CD changer that would allow the oem deck to access it without somehow telling the head unit how to switch to the aux input instead of the change.

Anyway, thought I would check and see if anyone has seen this before and knew what the heck was up.

I think you should get the manual for the Alpine head unit and it will tell you how to switch modes for the aux inputs. Many hu's simply have a button titled "Mode" or "Source". You push that button to cyle through AM, FM, CD, AUX, etc. But the Alpine might be different. You can probably get a manual in pdf formate from the web. Just go into Google and enter your model number plus the word Alpine plus the words "user manual". Good luck.

i have the same thing in my ti, except that it's an aftermarket pioneer changer with the stock deck.

the adaptor is made by peripheral, and to use the aux inputs the adaptor has to be grounded (probably done by previous owner). i believe (i haven't used it in ages) all you do is have the source playing, then switch to the cd changer. it automagically takes over when it receives a signal.

with no signal going to the rca, the changer plays.

fiddle around with it and let me know. i may be interested in actually running wires to hook up my mp3 player.

Mharrigan - The aux input is actually back at the Alpine CD Changer, not at the HU. The head unit is still the stock deck.

Aceyx - I tried hooking up my ipod to the input and then switching to CD by pressing Tape/CD on my deck and had no luck. I tried with and without cartridge but nothing... I don't have the manual for the changer so I will try looking it up online via the model # and see what I come up with.

As I remember, the stock H.U. did not support any aux. input devices other than a CD changer. In your case, the changer supports it, however the H.U. does not recognize the input as it must be programmed to recognize an alternate input signal source i.e. mode/source buttons. I remember some changers having aux RCA's which were used to hook up multiple CD changers in parallel.

i looked it up, but it's not real clear on how it works since i don't have the buttons on my HU. you can give them a call, assuming this is what you have.
