Having trouble fitting e30 axle into 318ti hub.

I have swapped a medium case dif from an e30 into my ti and I am using re-manufactured half shafts for a 1987 325is. I backed out the wheel speed sensor so that is not the issue. I can get the axle about half way into the hub and then it wont go any further. I am tempted to swap the flanges for the factory ti but I keep seeing everyone using the e30 half shafts with out an issue. Also I am using a kick butt snap-on air hammer on it and it wont go any further. When I back it back out there are no signs that the groves are being damaged. I have cleaned every spec of dirt of everything and still no luck.

I got my cores back this morning and it looks to me like the splines on the original axles are a tiny bit more skinny than the new e30 axles.

Looks like swapping out that part of the half shaft is going to be a pain in the butt because the tin cover that holds them together looks like it was crimped on with special tool. Look at like I might be better off sourcing so m3 e30 rear hubs. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We had this same issue on my friend's e30. IIRC we had to smack the snot out of one and draw it in with the axle nut. his was a medium case car that advance kept giving him small case (longer) axles. Where are you getting you axles? In the end the only place that finally got the right ones was o'reilley.

I actually bought them at o'reilley. I ended up just grinding a hair off each spline to make it so I could get them in. I think the issue may have been they were on the higher end of tolerance and my hubs were on the lower end.
