Alternative to R-Speed valve It looks like the "R-speed" check valve suggested by Shawn on here is no longer available. I also did some modification (I'll soon post some pix) to the air shroud going from the intake to the injector valves: I basically connected the injectors in series with a bunch of tees and I'm running a 5/16" hose all the way to intake. This way I can hide the hose between the block and the firewall as opposed to have it run across the SC. I decided I'm gonna give a try to this one. It's also considerable cheaper than the R-Speed. The various pressure and vacuum ratings are within the engine environment so it should work just fine. |

Stay tuned my friend: I think I will install it in a couple of weeks since I don't want to change to many things at one. Today I got the air-oil separator and I will hopefully install it tonight. The injectors air shroud has been rerouted and I have taken pix which I'll post soon. I'm waiting on a friend to weld a bracket I need to finish the relocation of the secondary air pump. I'll also give details on where to source air barbs, tees, brackets and such. |
I have a check valve i used on my dasc that i could sell you. IDK about 3 bucks though lol. |

It might be 3 bucks, but it's rated at 25"Hg, 150PSI, 385F and it has a cracking pressure of .5PSI: that's pretty much all the qualities required to work with the DASC. Since I'm using a 5/16 ID hose all the way to the intake, the "normal" valve won't fit anymore since it's meant for a hose with 3/4" ID. A 5/16" was to hard to find so 3/8" is just close enough to fit good. It should be in next week or so... I didn't feel like spending $30 for at most 3/4 (that's three quarters) PSI... |
The R-Speed check valve was originally for Miatas with superchargers. You might have some luck checking on the Miata forums to find one, or a quality replacement. The one you posted should work too. |

just go to napa, they have one. I got mine there for like 10 bucks. Someone posted the part number, but the guy behind the counter knew what i was asking for. |

However you'll have to modify the way the air shroud is routed: it actually cleans up the engine bay. You'll have to connect the injectors in series using some tees: http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02692.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02693.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02694.jpg I got mine from Grainger (Grainger p/n 1VTF9). I then used the old fuel hose (the one you had to remove when installed the SC) to go from the last tee to the intake. In order to fit the smaller hose into the elbow I used the same trick suggested by DA in the installation manual: you'll need a piece of the larger hose about 2" long and the medium hose that is used by DA between the large hose and the plastic tree where all the injectors air shrouds are connected. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02705.jpg Slide the medium hose over the small hose going to the injectors: http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02706.jpg Than slide the larger hose over the medium so you can plug it into the elbow. |
Here's how the final result looks like: http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02707.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02708.jpg http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...d/DSC02709.jpg |
