P21-S wheel cleaner. Takes a bit of work the first time, but once a good coat of wax is on the wheels, it works well.

Also, it will not damage any of the crazy finishes BMW has been coming out with lately...

I like Simple Green diluted 2 to 1. No damage since 1996.

I like Black Magic Tire Foam- it makes the tires nice and shiny :) , but as for the wheels, anything will do

...have some strange discoloration I'd like to take care of. The car is new to me, so I'm not sure exactly how previous owners have "abused" them. Overall, they look fantastic, but in certain light they have a slight yellowish cast to them. My guess is that whatever protectant or coating has been applied is what's fading.

Any guesses for treatment? In reading P21S's website, I can't decide whether it's the proper product, but I'll likely get some for long-term treatment.

Those are replica rims (in case you were not aware) and my guess is the original clear-coat is yellowing from age and/or the chemicals used to clean them. Could also be from brake dust left too long before cleaning- it's quite acidic and will eat into bare aluminum easily with a bit of salt and moisture...

At this stage, the only solution my be to strip and re-clear them.

This is why (even with OEM wheels) it is important to be careful with the chemicals you use.
