So, how do i get the plastic case that holds the speaker out? I had to pull my tailight and the interior stuff back one day to install the rubber grommet that goes to the antenea (spell check much?) is this the same? thx |
If you havnt done it yet, that is how you do it. You will have to pull the stuff away from it. Once you do that there will be several bolts holding the speaker cover in. Just undo those and it will come right out. |
If I remember correctly, there are possibly 4 or 5 bolts and 1 nut. There is a hidden bolt that connects the case to the pillar cover. It's pretty easy to find, but a slight PITA to re-align and reinstall. |
Thx guys, no i havent done it yet, but since i was tinting my window and had my door panels off (no front speakers) I seem to have finally killed my two back ones and its penciled in for next week. Ill let you know how it goes |
Has anyone tried to put a 6.5" speaker in the front kick panels, to replace the 5.25" speakers? |
i put 6x9's in the rear by cutting 2 holes in the shelf.. i have a video on utube of it search "xsalernox" and watch 1 or both of the videos i have uploaded |
I put some Boston Acoustics in the back of mine last weekend. It was very easy to do. |

Just ordered my speakers. PO had the base and treb turned all the way down when I bought the car. I found out why lol. |
Great write up. Did this to mine a few months ago and it works great. |
What about the tweeters? What did you do with the factory tweeters? Just leave them connected? |
Amazing write up! Not sure about 30-40 mins though, with all the dicking around took me at least 3 hours total. Though that did include adding tweeters to the base model 6 speaker system. I bought some component Sound Ordnance 6.5's. Installed the independent tweeters in the deck as well for a virtually stock look. Will upload some pictures of how it all went together once I figure out a good hosting site. |
