coilovers

which brand coilovers would you 318ti drivers suggest? im debating between h&r, blistein, ksports, & kw. thanks guys.

Bluebimma 12-03-2009 01:33 PM

TCKline.

KW Varient 3's are very very good for the Ti as they are built for the Euro Ti (BMW Compact)

But for the same money... get the TC Kline

has anyone heard of TEIN COs? Theres a set for sale from an m3 but I'm not sure if they would fit a ti?

Tein is a good company, but parts for an M3 wouldn't fit a ti

kelly.st 12-30-2009 04:56 PM

oh alright thanks. so when im looking for coilovers will any non-M setup work or will in need to find something thats ti specific?

projekt EPiK 12-30-2009 10:19 PM

Z3 works.. correct? still learning myself

mgbman69 12-31-2009 03:46 AM

Z3 works but puts the rear way too low.... Stick to something for the Ti or do a combo of non-M fronts and E30 rears (ground control will do it, not sure if anyone else will).

Xenocide 12-31-2009 03:57 AM

Why non m3 fronts?? M3 fronts will work fine, only difference is sway bar attachment and you are stupid not to upgrade to a m3 or larger bar with drop links.

We are somewhat restricted to what we can choose from due to the rear end we have, but the big question is what are you planning on using the car for? Is it going to see the track at all or autoX, how much? Or is it just for street driving to lower it and improve handling?

kelly.st 12-31-2009 05:04 PM

I just plan on using it for street driving and was looking to upgrade and go a little bit lower. And i'm on a budget of around $1000

Xenocide 12-31-2009 05:20 PM

worthless, use springs.

RedDog 01-02-2010 08:32 PM

Xenocide is right, your best bet is to use springs with a sport shock. You will save money in the long run and it is really best to get a car corner balanced after you put a coilover suspension on it which adds to the cost.

Since you are planning on using it on the street you might want to take the money you save and get some camber plates and Ireland Engineering adjustment plates for the rear to dial out some of the positive camber.

fixed.

Since the Ti unfortunately has the rear end of an E30, it is fixed. If you get two sets of the Ireland Engineering Rear Camber/Toe Adjustment Kit -E30, Z3, 318ti and weld them in you will gain the ability to adjust both camber and toe on our cars.
