Replacing 318ti trunk floor with 323ti one? Doable?

Hello, how are you?
We all know the 323ti has the battery on the trunk.
And for a 6 cylinder ti, that is the best option.
Besides the trim to house the battery, the trunk floor of the chassis is different.

Here are the realoem parts:

There is a part number for each trunk floor and it is different from the 318 to the 323.

But how doable is to replace this?
If I have access to a full 323, how can it be done?
Does it require cutting and welding?
Can it be done so that the final result is oem quality?

Has anyone done such a swap?

Thanks.
Regards.

It is only limited by your budget.

Original new panels may be available still. Try ordering the different parts at the dealer.

Then a lot of spot welds need to be drilled out after the seam sealer is removed. Probably need to weld in temporary chassis bracing while you do that.

Then weld in new panels, seam seal, prime and paint. Depending on how the rest of the car looks, you may consider stripping it completely and doing a full repaint from bare metal at this point.

There are a few trunk battery options, this one, as well as others are well documented in my manual.

I don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze. It would be a ton of work to add weight to the car for a minimal balance improvement. A lightweight battery in the stock location is the cleanest, most effective solution.
