1997 318ti Understeer.com Cali Sport+Active DASC 270 HP

SOLD!!!

It's come to be that time... I've posted a couple of feeler threads throughout the last year but my cherished ti needs to go to help me pay for a 135i.

I've owned the car for around three years. It was previously owned by Chris and Lisa from Understeer.com. Under Chris' care, it was turned into the ultimate 318ti. I made it a little bit faster and nicer.

Things added to it prior to my purchase:
Full sport package
Completely new leather seats with two tone leather
Stromung exhaust
DASC + Technique Tuning's stage 3 system (190+ rwhp)
Heated seats
Koni shocks
Eibach springs
"Butt Strut"
Heatshielded foam intake
Euro Projector HIDs low, high, and fogs
M3 shift lever
11.5 lb flywheel and M3/M5 hybrid clutch
///M rear spoiler
///M front lip
Double locking keyless entry/alarm
Z3M rear shock mount plates
E46 328i front brakes
HAWK HP Plus pads all around
M3 clutch slave cylinder
Rear windows tinted
X-brace
Magnecor Wires

What I added:
CD43 cd player
DICE HD Radio/iPod/iPhone interface for CD43
Sirius Satellite Radio
2.93 LSD (or 3.25 LSD, your choice)
More power! (Supercharger pulley for 14 PSI from 10 PSI, water/meth injection [uses blue washer fluid, needs to be filled ever ~3 months])
Carbon fiber hood (Have original hood if desired instead)
Brand New California Top Motor
318ti.org stickers!
Dash mounted boost gauge
M Roadster rear sway bar
LED tail lights
Clear corners and side blinkers
E46 330i ZHP Short Shift knob
Low restriction catalytic converter (Cali approved, no CEL)
Mille Miglia MM-11 17" with 225/40R17 Hankook Ventus S10 Evo tires with good tread

The car gets around 35 mpg highway (I very rarely drive in cities) with the 2.93 differential and 32 mpg with the 3.25. I swapped to lower my AutoX classification and give me better fuel economy. It uses premium fuel. Religiously changed oil with Mobil 1 every interval. New NGK cold plugs. Hankook EVO S12 tires are in good shape.

Never tracked but autocrossed several times. The car won me 1st place in the NJBMWCCA for the 2009 season. I didn't have a chance to make it to many events in 2010 unfortunately.

The car has experienced no accidents during my ownership. When it was young (first year of its life I think) it had a fender bender with no frame damage. The front fender was replaced and it has been good since.

I really don't want to get rid of my baby but I want a newer car to commute to graduate school in for the next five years. Please take her and put her in a good home.

Dynoed at 235 RWHP or around 270 to the flywheel at 14 psi. Dyno graphs are in the Forced Induction section of the site. Still very drivable.

I am in the middle of replacing the front harness for the car due to a faulty fuse that led to the wires for the AC and headlights fusing together. Until that is fixed I won't be able to show it. It runs great, but I want it to be in 100% perfect shape before it's sold.

The car has 140k on it. 0-60 measured in 4.7 sec with the 3.25 diff, 5.0 with the 2.93. Yes, that's right, whip up some M3's with this bad boy.

Looking for $10k, but negotiable. If you buy it at 11k I will throw in a spare motor with 125k on it, extra set of wheels and tires, and the 3.25 LSD.

I will take new pictures once everything is perfect. If you want the most badass 318ti around, buy this car!!

If you're really interested, we might be able to work something out. Send me a PM if you are.

Car is getting the harness replaced and a new AC Magnetic clutch which was the culprit.

pnosker 06-28-2011 12:25 PM

Car is 100% functioning in great shape. What went wrong before: AC Magnetic clutch shorted, fuse for AC did not blow and melted instead and caused the front harness to melt. Now, the front harness has been replaced, the AC clutch was replaced, and the AC control unit in the dash was replaced as well as the diode in it caused it to function backwards (When the fan dial was at 0 the compressor ran but from 1-4 it did not). The car runs great, is fast as hell, and gets great gas mileage. Pictures will be posted soon.

I need to sell this car soon as I have some bills to pay. As I mentioned before, looking for $12k. I will entertain any offers.

In addition to the car, the $12k will give you a spare motor and transmission with 124k on them, several miscellaneous spares such as dashboard, spare suspension components, and more. I will also include my Carsoft PC link system as well if interested.

shame to see it go, pat. Having seen your car up close.. that is one sweet ti

pnosker 06-30-2011 02:13 PM

I know it's sad. By the way, the price I listed is negotiable. For example, if you don't want the extra diff, it will be less. I am willing to drop it a good bit for my 318ti.org buddies! :-D

pnosker 07-01-2011 09:11 PM

Price dropped to 10.5k without 3.23 differential or extra wheels/tires. Anyone interested? As I said, I am flexible with the price. Unfortunately it needs to be sold relatively soon.
