How to take out/replace rear Axle Mount ho 1 Attachment(s) I am trying to replace the Rear Axle mount, (See item #3 in attached) and I am not sure how to take the the original one out. I have unscrewed the nut/bolt. TIA |
That parts is called a rear subframe mount. Its a bear to get out. Usually a special puller is used, but I've heard of people burning them out, too. |
It's pressed in. It's a subframe bushing. Do a search. TONs of how to's. |
Thanks guys, I did give up after banging at the thing with all I had for 10 minutes, that it was not going to budge since it has rubber sides. I will however try to make a tool myself as it seems simple enough to make. I was just thinking if it will be just as tough to put the new one in??? |
Took me 4 hours with a lift, the proper tool, and a friend helping. I did not disconnect the drive shaft but I did have to unhook the rear brake lines. I put IE urethane bushings back in, putting stocks back in would have added at least 30 mins. |
