Where do you put your Ipod?

I have an Alpine 9852 head unit with an Ipod cable. The ipod interface works well and I have no issues connecting it.

I was wondering wheer you have put the Ipod? I have seen some picture of it on a holder by the ashtray, but where else?

My head unit can control the Ipod, so I don't need to see it. Rather, I'd like it the be hidden from view, but easily removeable. Thought about the glove box, but it's already so small.

Any ideas? pics?
Thanks!

Well when i looked into them i was told they install them in the glovebox on 95% of the cars. I don't like that idea cause it's hotter in the glovebox than in the car. I personally think alpine could've came up with a better HU to control the ipod,i refuse to buy one untill i see next years models. When i do get it done i'm going to do the same thing my buddy did with his gt and thats have it installed in the center console. I have an armrest so it wouldn't be seen, that would be my suggestion if you don't want to drill a hole in your glove box to run the wire to the HU.

The new generation alpine headunits have just the cable that hooks up to the ipod but the generation Alpine headunit I have uses the ipod interface thing that I hid in the glove box. My Alpines rear channel RCA output stopped working and the headunit isn't even a year old. I'm pissed but now I get to buy the new gen that has the interface built in.

They really need to make these things bluetooth so there isn't a need to wire the ipod to the unit.

One thing my friend is pissed off about his ipod no longer works in his car. Seems that from plugging it in and unplugging it ruined the hook up on the bottom of the ipod. The thing just wore out after 2 months,my ipod works in it and so do his g/f's.

The thing i don't like about the HU is i have 5k songs on mine & if i want to listen to a band thats starts with k or m it takes like 2 minutes to reach that band. They should've made it so you scroll through the alphabet stop on the letter of the artist you want then search just for that letter. i wonder if they even tested that out with more than 5 bands on the ipod.

I would put it in the glove box. That way you can leave it plugged in while you are gone without attracting theives. I pulled out my ash tray and put my XM Radio in and it fits perfectly, I think it also fit a iPod computer dock. I would still go for the glove box though.

I have a rubberized hard case for mine. The cable comes out behind the ashtray into that small pocket, and I just sit it in there.

Thanks for the input. I may put it in the glovebox.

The thing I do not like about the interface on the Alpine I have is when you are listening to an album, you must search from the beginning to get to that bands next album. IOW... do and artist search, and if the band name begins with a M, you have to go thru the whole list again.
Would have been better if the back function worked like the ipod does.

Let me know if anyone has this same complaint. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.
