An Xbrace

Looking to buy a used xbrace. I have been looking around ebay but they are going for about retail price. Does anybody have one they are willing to part with. I'm trying to find one that's cheaper than retail.

getbmwparts.com has it for $165 shipped, it comes with all the hardware.

You could also post the part number in this thread on bf.c, Chris has really fantastic prices on OEM parts and super fast shipping.

Wouldnt it be possible to simply snag one off a salvaged Z3 or 3x8is?, as long as the front is straight? I cant imagine it would be that hard to find.

Find a (rear-end) wrecked E36 soft-top. It's originally a stock part for later year convertibles.

I thought there was a BF.c vendor that was selling them for $100 w/o hardware?

Just wait for someone to sell one, it'll show up. I got mine $100, brand new locally. Or, if you can find the scrap yard that buys my car, it's just got a dent, otherwise it's good as new! I wonder where my car is right now :frown:

there's this guy selling one on bf.c for $100 with hardware it's just a little banged up. I'm still thinking about it. For a little more i can get a new one. I'm in no rush since this will be going on the Ti in the spring with some other stuff.

I got mine for 36 bucks on ebay. I almost won it for a dollar but someone tried to outbid me at the last minute.

elchicano 11-11-2008 07:14 AM

yup i saw that. Wish i could get something like that. Like i said I'm in no rush so I might just keep looking around.

Because there is nothing to really wear out on an x-brace a lot of people sell them for very close to retail. Go to tischer BMW and buy it from them. They sell it for a little over 100$ with the hardware... 160$ with the hardware is the retail list price, and you can get it much cheaper than that..

You'll be able to find better deals, but you will have to wait for them to pop up.

How can I determine if I need the hardware or not? I understand some come with the hardware already under the car? Does that not apply to the Ti?

All non M3s need the hardware.
Even some M3s do.
So you do.

I think the LTW M3 and E36 verts after 95 were the only ones that came with it from the factory

That and Z3's.
The nutserts were never pre installed on a non ///M car, and some early 95's didnt have the nutserts installed from the factory either. All E36 M3's have nutserts pre installed from late 95 through the end of the production run in 99.

So I've been told ^
