How much do the manual conversion kits run for and where can I find one?

Wow..thanks for the help. they had it but it's like $2,000

comes with everything needed and guaranteed, right? likely not a bad deal for that price :) i'd like to do the 6-speed conversion and it's a good deal more than $2000.

Sell your auto car and buy a manual shifted one. More cost effective.
I drove my previous '98 auto Volvo to a used car dealer and asked to swap a 98 manual Bimmer. Ended up me paying $3500 difference.

if i put a manual tranny.... why a can change the diferencial, please explain me....

cali-ti 03-24-2006 08:59 PM

stock auto diff ratio: 4.44
stock manual diff ratio: 3.45

if you don't change the diff too, you're going to be revving WAY higher at the same speed as before. it's about a 30% difference so compared to a stock manual ti, you'd be revving 30% higher at the same speed. eg: 80mph with the stock manual and manual diff was around 3700 rpms. with the 4.44 diff, you'd be looking at 4800 rpms :)

...but if is my car supercharger, the auto diff. is better?? the tranny will work like a civic (third=115mph)??please reply i have a business for a manual tranny...

cali-ti 03-27-2006 02:44 PM

no, i think it would be the opposite of what you're thinking. my example at 80mph was in FIFTH gear. if you never go above 65mph or so, the auto diff might be ok ;) otherwise, i would change it. on the highway, even the 3.73 diff can be a little annoying.

FATHER 03-27-2006 05:50 PM

ohh sorry ,, yah i understand now.. its true, i need the diff too....mmm..how much cost it?

cali-ti 03-27-2006 06:17 PM

my guess would be between $200 - $400. see if you can get a package deal with the trans.
