TI specific subwoofer box

1 Attachment(s)
Here is a drawing that i created for a subwoofer box. This thing fits 2 subs in the back perfectly. It sits snug underneath the lip of the back seats and still allows enough room to lift up the floor panel to access the jack and everything. It also sits completely flush with the back of the seats so there is no gap between the box and the back seats to allow maximum volume without wasting space. This box is sealed and is designed for the 12" kicker solo-baric subs. It has an internal volume of 1.2 cubic feet per sub. This box may be used for other subs as long as you change the cut out and make sure it is within the recomended volume of the subs. But if your smart enough to build a sub box your smart enough to modify it to your likings. Hope this helps!

Ok so the drawing is to big to attach. Here is what it looks like in my car. Send me a message if you want the drawing. I can email it.

I can see em now, very interesting, definitely leaves a decent amount of room back there.

yeah that is a slim box...they thin subs? like how deep?

jl also makes a great thin like 3 inch deep sub.

i personally would do something different with your amp though. thats just asking for a broke window.

you need to hide the subs and amp with the deck lid so no one sees it

Truth, hiding everything looks so much cleaner and classier anyways. Everything kinda has a boy racer look to it right now.

i like

looks good i would put the amp underneath the cover instead of on top. When you raise the hatch the amp can be seen. I think this would look cool.

I'm not sure what the crime is like where you live, but if it's bad you really might want to hide that stuff, looks cool when you can see everything IMO, but it doesn't look as good when it's been stolen

All very excellent points. To answer a few questions.
The subs arent that thin there pretty normal but the magnet is more wide than deep which does help give a decent amount of clearance in the box.

I've been wanting to get my rear window tinted really dark to hide things cuz yes its right in the window. I opted not to use the rear deck cuz it was broke and it would still be in the window if i put the amp on top. I couldn't mount it below the latch cuz then the floor wouldn't pull up cuz the amp would be blocking it. This appeared to be my only optioin left for mounting the amp since it was so long.

I've contemplated changing the layout of things back there but I've got more important things to worry about on the car like making it more "boy racer" like.

Just had to pride my self on the perfection of my box design.

Oh the box is approximately 5" deep at the top and 11" deep at the bottom (internally) with a 67.6 degree angle to match the angle of the seats.

wow. now that looks nice. great job man. i gotta give your props on this project. now question is can you make me a box to fit an alpine type r 12" in the corner (behind the driver's rear tail light?)

but yeah, +1 on hiding that amp.

thesk8nmidget 06-05-2008 02:20 PM

marv you are gonna need to use fiberglass to make that work correctly.

TI-driftin 06-05-2008 10:18 PM

yep def gonna need fiberglass to do the corner thing. I haven't experimented with fiberglass yet but would like to eventually convert the box and the shelf to fiberglass. Especially the shelf that i made for the amp and 6x9's. Its currently made out of 1/4 inch plywood with a 1x1 frame for rigidity. The main purpose for the shelf was so that i can mount the amp seperate from the sub box so i can easily remove the box for cargo and spirited driving. But a buddy talked me into mounting the capacitor on the sub box which defeated my whole purpose for it all. The cap will def get moved soon.

If you still have drawing, can you send it to me?
