a/c system stop cooling my a/c system simply stop cooling! :frown: i canīt find any matterial about simply tests or verification for ti anyone can give me a little hand? thanks!!! |
you might just need to recharge it with freon |
no, the guy said the compressor have a leak, and itīs hard to find the replaceament part.. anybody ca recomend someone who sell ac repair parts for bimmers? thanks! |
1. You need a real gauge set to charge the BMW system (I've tried and finally bought a set) 2. Don't listen to the "compressor leaks ac guys" they want your money. 3. Go to like Autozone and buy a seal conditioner charge for AC.(R134) 4. Use a vacuum source to suck the air out of the system. 5. Put in the conditioner. 6 Use your gauge kit to charge the system form the R134 store cans. I had to use the can head from a cheapy recharge kit. To connect the guages. 7. If you have no clue,,, don't screw with it, the high pressure side is dangerous. |

2- the a/c guy i found is very honest, he said the problem is this seal, but he canīt find here in brazil... 3- i donīt want to screw, just need to find the right part,so he can fix it i,m looking at autoparts, do you know the right one for a 318ti 1997? thanks a million for your help! |
Sometimes a the conditioner additive is enough to re-seal the unit, they get hard with age and leak. But ya never know. AC service kits are readily available in the US ,, don't know about Brazil. FYI - My 318ti is the touchiest on charge level I ever played with, it only needs to go down a few pounds pressure to quit working, and only 5 or 10 high and it will stall from overpressure. Dave |
recharge system with freon and ultraviolet paint. |
another questions: - any link where i can buy a "real gauge set to charge the BMW system"? - a/c aditive the autozone sugest me to buy another a/c unit because itīs impossible to identify without unload it. "BMW used two different compressors that year and both had multiple options for the shaft seal. The Denso 10PA17C compressor has three options and the Seiko-Seiki SS96D1 compressor has two options" ideas? |
on the compresor is a sticker, find him,and you hawe info. |
the sticker isnīt easy to see.. i bought this kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_2198wt_1165 letīs see if it works |
anybody knows the correct pressure for the ti? thanks! |
Fan on highest setting and coldest temp. Between 25-35 pounds, freon 134a, engine at 2000rpm. You do not want the compressor kicking on/off at 2000rpm. Make sure your not over 45 pounds freon at fast idle 1,200rpm. This charge is done in 90 degree weather. If your weather is colder you need less pressure. Hotter more pressure. ***WARNING***This is not BMW spec this is what I do on my BMW and I do not have any issues at all. I have run these pressures for over 4 years. I do not know BMW specs. You should look up BMW sceps if you want them. |
