318ti Sport - Bay Area

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and have had my 98 ti for 3 months now. I am really enjoying it as my daily. I am in the Bay Area in California. This is my first TI and I am enjoying it a lot. I have only had to do new shocks at this point. I took it to a local Autocross with its 500 treadwear tires and open diff and it did surprisingly well. I don't plan on doing any more autocrosses with this car but I did want to see what it would do. The sunroof is stuck and it needs some new headliner. It also needs a oil pan gasket(or other gasket in that area) in the near future but it's a slow leak right now so it's no big deal. Anyways, glad to join you guys in discussions, also I am looking for a limited slip differential for it if you guys hear of any.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...f7a82fa753.jpg

Welcome! Nice Ti! You are close to a number of the NorCal TI folks so, perhaps we can meet you next time we all get together. I can help you figure out your sunroof repair and share my recent headliner renewal. Not complex, but multiple steps for a solid job. (I hope, 4 more to go)

Anyway, enjoy your TI. Track days coming up if you are interested and another AutoX in Stockton.

Cheers! Rich

Hi Ben!

Neighbor helped me get the worn/stripped lug nut off
Pressing issues now are to figure out the passenger air bag warning light
and adjust the brake light switch - it's as if it's being pressed on all the time unless you get behind the pedal and push it towards you

Got the rears done at 20% to sort of match the 4Runner

If the brake light switch is stuck, (it happens), replacement is like $30, easy swap, although the switch is in there pretty good. I typically break the housing removing it, but it's broken anyway. The new one clicks in.

I have a ABS light reset tool I can bring to a next meet.

Good luck. Cheers!

Thanks!

I replaced the switch already, it just needs to be adjusted somehow. I think I got it for like $8 so I bought 2 just in case.

If all that is needed for the ABS light is a reset, then great!

Whenever the next meet is 😃

So, a ABS reset is all you need if Power was disconnected and one of the Airbag system components was disconnected. (Airbag, seat, etc) If something is actually broke in the system, a reset won't cure it. One common failure is the seat pad on the passenger side fails and will cause an airbag light to trigger. :frown:
