Hi-beam bulbs into lo-beam sockets Well I never thought my headlights were very bright so I replaced the headlight bulbs with brand new ones, to no avail. They are 55w which is the same as my off-road vehicle - fine for 40mph but not road speeds. Is there any issue with installing higher wattage bulbs (i.e. ones for the brights) into the lobeam sockets. |
if you install high-beam bulbs as your low beams, everyone's going to flash you and you'll get pulled over a lot if the 55w isn't bright enough you probably need to have your headlights aimed |
yeah better get the right ones, depending on the cops in your area they can make a big deal about it. |
It turns out they won't go in anyway, they are type 9005 and the lo-beams are type 9006. The hi-beam bulbs are 60w vs the 55w lo-beams, but are twice as bright. Weird. |

I mean the lo's look more like 25watts or something. Anyway I jammed in some 80w bulbs I found online & now looks good. |
I replaced mine with PIAA's , and I think theyre great. Eventually ill get HID's, but for now im really happy with them. |
I'll definitely check those out. These $6 ebay bulbs look bright but I have no idea how long they'll last. |
