haven't been here in a while... what's new?

Been a while since i've been here.

I pretty much have lost all interest in my Ti recently. I just bumped my for sale post again with a new lower price.

I'm still not in a full time job... just kinda freelancing my way through life for the time being. job market sucks. It was tough to get used to... huge lifestyle cut for me. made 110k+ in '08. this year i'll be lucky to see 30k, of which, 28 is going to my mortgage.... lol So, i haven't done much of anything recently.

Genesis is still stock... put a whopping 880 miles on it so far since i bought it back in july. lots of cool parts flirting with me. once i get back on my feet again, it will be getting some toys.

That's about it... not too much else new here. what's up with all you fools?

Thought about you recently, hope all is going well... I, too, have been freelancing my way for the last year and doing odd jobs. Since I had already bought everything for a 6 cyl. swap, I am making that happen now, but no new toys until something steady comes along...

We are even seeing the decline in the BMW CCA membership start to level off.
People who had 3 year memberships changed them to 1 year.
Now I'm starting to see 1 year memberships changed to 3 years.

I do think things are going to start to turn around within the next year.
We won't see the boom we had during the dotcom years.
I think thing the recovery will be slow and that's a good thing.
The faster it goes up, the harder the fall.

I look at my finances differently now.

I hope so, unemployed here as of Sept.1 The job market truly does suck...Apart from that, all is ok. Good thing my partner has a steady more secure line of work.

I hope things get better for you soon, that is gonna be tough to live on. It does make you look at everything differently. One of the reasons I refuse to have tv is it's all about making us want more things. That's one of the good things coming out of this time. We all have to examine our lives and find what's important. That all said, I do love my car. In Montana we don't have any alternative transportation except the feet, the thumb or god forbid, a horse.

The nickname was promptly adopted and still makes me (and him) smile...

Trollin' on by once every 2 years it seems!

How's things?

My Ti was eventually sold to a friend who eventually traded it with his father for one of his other cars. The old man loves it he says and drives it all the time still.

I still have the genesis-- and my house :) It's been a tough 3 years but i've finally got a full time gig lined up that I actually start tomorrow. Racked up a ton of debt, and the immediate focus is going to be paying that off as fast as possible.

Hope you all are doing well.

Hope the new gig works well for you. Acquiring debt is such a heavy personal burden. It changes how you participate in life, how you enjoy it. I hope the best for you! Good to see you here again...stop in more often

sorry to hear about the debt, that's never good. at least you now have a steady job so you can start chipping away at it

Back from the dead!

I was able to re-fi my house earlier this year finally which helps the positive cash flow a ton. I'm still working that job I took above. got a raise a few months ago, shooting for a promotion next year. Made some risky plays in the market that worked out and quadrupled my (meager) 401k so it was like I never stopped contributing in those down years.

I quit smoking 3 years ago. Haven't had even a drag since.
I put on 50 lbs in the year after.
I lost 70lbs since then and have never been in better shape in my life, even if its not the lightest I've been. I'm the healthiest I've been.

I still have the genesis. almost paid for. 40k miles on it now. climbed Mt Washington with it this past summer. been a solid car, really.

Was living with a girl for a while... was planning to propose to her... had talked to my dad about it. Then one night I came home to a note on the bed saying its not working out. That ruined me for a while. I alienated just about everyone I knew. Lots of bridges were burned and will never be rebuilt. Saw some parts of me that scared the hell out of myself. Did some soul searching. Am a better person now. Just started talking to someone new, maybe something comes out of it.

Hope you guys are also doing well.

-Brian
