Latest on KO Supercharger Joe @ KO Performance left me a message on my answering machine on the status of my order. You can get some insight into what is changing in the design. http://www.geocities.com/triumph1518/supercharger.wav |
ran into the guys from KO at Summerblaze. i liked the KO S/C, but for an untested unit. i'm not sure about dropping 3k on it. |
$2085 shipped. They now made it even easier to install. Quote:

Sounds great. I hope to get one sometime in the near future. Keep us updated. |
I would love to be able to get one, but i'm going to be selling my car in the next 2 years for my new e36 or e46 M3  |

We'll see. If it gets here next week, like he says, there is still time to install it before winter. The new install method is supposed to be easier. Quote:

I wonder if you can get 300whp out of the 1.9l engine |
I'll be happy with 200whp:_paper: Quote:

Addition of the S/C would make snow driving more entertaining. Extra power in a light car with a LSD would equate to a lot of tire spinning in snow. That is if there is no traction control engaged. |
The LSD is definitely waiting till Spring. Quote:

OK, I''ll break the news......it came today:frown: A TOTAL DISSAPPOINTMENT! No instructions, no serpentine belt, and who knows what else is missing. The manifold is the biggest piece of **** you can imagine. Looking at the parts, I can't see how he can justify $2000.00. Remember, he wants over $3000.00 on his website. Oh, and the gaskets are HAND CUT. I mean like with an exacto knife. You can see how sloppy they were done. I think he got his skills making parts for JC Whitney. I want this pile of crap out of my house ASAP. Calling him tomorrow. Pictures to follow, when my level of disgust subsides. Quote:

:-( call Joe....show em who's boss |
Sorry L8, pics when you get a chance. Also take pics of the rotors of the supercharger because he states they are "new" Does it look like a new supercharger? After I see pics I will give you some suggestions on how to get a refund if he gives you any trouble. |
This thing is a total hack.....spread the word:anger: Quote:

I just looked at the blower, it's all new inside. I already have a dispute opened with American Express, incase he trys to screw me. What did you have in mind? Quote:

I'm sorry L8. That is really dissapointing:mad: . I was really hoping that this would work out for you. Good luck with the actions you are taking. |

sorry to hear about this L8, but i guess from what had been happening, it's not totally unexpected. i'd check out the guy's DASC kit he has for sale for $2000, sounds like a good deal. |
i'd like to see pictures before I make a judgement. |
I was thinking of driving down to KO to see the Z3 setup. |
This is what KO's website shows comprises the 1.9L kit. http://www.geocities.com/triumph1518/2ndGear1.JPG This is what came to me yesterday. No instructions, just EXACTLY what you see. http://www.geocities.com/triumph1518/superkit.jpg See alot of missing stuff...I do! Now for there wonderful manifold. http://www.geocities.com/triumph1518/manilfold.jpg http://www.geocities.com/triumph1518/manilfold1.jpg That's what $2000.00 gets you from Ko Performance I'm contacting Blackie about that DASC. something (besides the missing pieces) doesn't look right there ... how can one of the runner tubes be almost completely blocked? |
I noticed that too. That has to cut down on it's air flow. Quote:

ok, time to switch the KO group buy to DA ... /sigh |
did the KO come with a chip? |
Holy Hack Job Bat Man!!! First of all someone doesn't know how to weld, those weld look like absolute trash. The supercharger has been painted because that model of supercharger comes in raw uncoated aluminum form. The bypass valve on the supercharger appears to be missing along with the fuel rail, injectors, belt, mounting hardware, instructions, ect. How are they getting tension on the belt the original kit includes another pulley and you didn't get ****, maybe that is the "newly designed kit" I have been overly critical of his kit from the beginning, I still have a PM from him awhile ago when I stated here on the forum about how his kit was made. Yes this is true, but it works and works well. But good job on pointing that out. |
Someone should post these pictures on the other bimmer boards. bf.c, dtmpower, etc, if it hasn't been done already. Good job with the pics L8, I'm glad everyone got to see what this thing look like. I'd say pack it up and ship it back to them with a big F-U. Edit: I can host the pics for you, I don't know how much bandwidth you are allowed with geocities. |
That was definately not what I saw on the Z3 they had. That is horrible. |
Not that I can see. Quote:

I do not want to go full tilt after this guy at this point. When I get my money back, we an see what's next. Quote:
